Pediatric Dentistry in New York

Pediatric Dentistry - The Center for High Tech Dentistry, New York Dentist

At The Center for High Tech Dentistry, we strive to provide a fun and supportive environment for children. Our goal is to provide exceptional preventive pediatric care in a comforting and positive environment. Our office is not a high volume practice where too many patients are seen at once without much personal time with the doctor. You will be impressed with our personal, individualized approach to treating children.

According to the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, every child should visit a dentist around age 1 and every six months thereafter. These visits help children begin to get comfortable in a dental setting and allow dentists to observe the dental changes in a child’s mouth from an early age.

At the initial visit, the dentist will perform your baby’s first oral examination and will review infant oral hygiene. In some cases, the dentist will clean your baby’s teeth and apply a topical fluoride. The extent of the examination will depend entirely on you and your child’s comfort level.

At each pediatric visit, your doctor will review age appropriate oral hygiene instructions with both the child and parent and also provide appropriate toothbrushes and flossing materials. To reinforce a pleasant experience, your child leave the office with a dental related toy or appliance. We also provide orthodontic evaluations and orthodontic referrals if needed. If your child has other special dental needs, they may be referred to a pediatric dentist.

When preparing your child for their first visit to the dentist, please reinforce the idea that going to the dentist is a fun and comfortable experience. Please try to avoid using words like “pain” and “hurt” when talking to your child about the dentist. If you are anxious about the visit, your child will sense that and will be anxious as well.

Our approach to dentistry for children is “Tell, Show, Do.” We will always tell your child about each procedure and how it works, show your child what it looks like, and then perform the procedure when they are comfortable. We will only use the most comforting and positive words and phrases when talking to your child.

Our goal is for both you and your child to leave our office calm, happy and smiling from ear to ear!
