Dr. Thomas Vahdani is an experienced professional with over 17-year of clinical experience dedicated to providing comprehensive dental care to diverse population in addition of being a dental educator, a mentor, and a servant leader who has invested in training of professional dental students.
Dr. Vahdani received his Bachelor of Science in Medical Microbiology, with a minor in Chemistry from California State University, Long Beach, graduating with high honors. He earned a Doctoral of Dental Surgery from the University of Southern California (USC), School of Dentistry and was the recipient of the "Outstanding Achievement Award" in Implant Dentistry. He is also achieved Master of Academy of General Dentistry (MAGD) and granted as Fellow of Pierre Fauchard Academy pursuing the Academy's mission that is " to consistently focus on professionalism, integrity, and ethics worldwide, by our own conduct as worthy role models, by the advancement of dentistry to the highest level, by supporting and honoring colleagues for their distinguished work, research, contributions, and public service, and by providing excellence in programs, education, and leadership in oral health care."
Dr. Vahdani's leadership experience can be summed by achieving Master of Science in Health Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Health Professionals, a practice owner managing all aspects of the practice, and a group practice leader at Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU), School of Dentistry, managing clinical aspects of the practice, teaching clinical dentistry and practice management, quality assurance, and providing administrative support and assessing students competencies and assisting in dental board examinations, in addition to being a mentor and academic faculty advisor and research advisor to a diverse student population.
Dr. Vahdani began my Academic career as a volunteer part-time clinical instructor at University of Southern California where he had served as a part-time Lecturer/Pre-Clinical Faculty. Then, he had joined as Assistant Professor at Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Dentistry in 2011 as a Group Practice Leader. Being part of higher education as a faculty at Midwestern University, College of Dental Medicine, Illinois, and a group practice leader at Virginia Commonwealth University, Dr. Vahdani had the opportunity to gain experience in academic environment and attend annual Title IX training, Diversity and Inclusion training, Campus Safety and serve numerous committees as a member of executive and new faculty search committees, Curriculum committee, Ad hoc committees, Admission committee, Student/Faculty Liaison committee, Urgent Care Ad hoc Committee, and Faculty Development committee and Strategic Planning committee.
In addition, Dr. Vahdani was a facilitator and mentor of Ethics workshops and had serve as an A.D. Williams Student Research Fellow mentor/advisor, an Academic Faculty Advisor, and was also course director for D4 Aesthetics selective course that he had developed. Most importantly, Dr. Vahdani had participated in chart audits, quality assurance and quality control and had worked closely with quality assurance and compliance department.
Being a practitioner in private practice - either as an associate dentist, owner dentist or a part of Faculty Practice Group, Dr. Vahdani have opportunities to engage in quality dental care and become skilled in multidisciplinary dental care, not limited to diagnosis and treatment planning, aesthetics, occlusion, oral surgery, endodontics, OSA and sleep apnea, CAD-CAM, Laser dentistry, and implant dentistry. Dr. Vahdani is practicing clinician in state of California who is committed to minimally invasive dentistry and is confident with multi-disciplinary complex cases in a patient-center practice, and was an early adaptor of CAMBRA and ICDAS in his practice. Dr. Vahdani is skillful with CDT codes, coordinating benefit and services for patient, healthcare analytics, HIPAA and healthcare records maintenance, chart audit, and quality assurance. He is also familiar with health policy, health IT, supply chain management, eCOM reporting, Lean Process, and Six Sigma.
Dr. Vahdani is an active member of organized dentistry and served a three-year term as a President of the Orange County Dental Society Dental Health Foundation, a 501-C non-profit organization, dedicating his time providing care for underserved children and is an active participant in "The ADA's Give Kids A Smile®" program that enhances the oral health of large numbers of underserved children. Dr. Vahdani has been recognized numerous times by the Orange County Dental Society (OCDS) for his efforts and dedication toward improving the oral health of the children in his community. Dr. Vahdani was honored "OCDS the Member of the Year award" in 2005.
