Meet Richard Wetherill, DDS
Dr. Wetherill was born and raised in the small coastal town of Wilmington, North Carolina. After graduating from Furman University with a B.S. in Chemistry, summa cum laude & Phi Beta Kappa honors, he attended one of the top dental schools in the country, at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Upon graduating from UNC, Dr. Wetherill was offered a position at a distinguished residency in Birmingham, AL. There, he received extensive experience in placing/restoring single implants & full arch/All-on-X implants, advanced bone grafting techniques including lateral ridge augmentations, ridge split augmentations, lateral window sinus augmentations, crestal sinus lifts, and soft tissue grafting. Also incorporated into his residency was a year-long course in intravenous (IV) Moderate Conscious sedation, for which he now holds a certificate and license.
Dr. Wetherill finds immense purpose in developing lasting relationships with his patients as he restores their smiles, chewing ability, confidence, and overall health with dental implants. He helps anxious patients feel comfortable with his relaxed demeanor and person-centered care.
Outside of the dental office, you can find Dr. Wetherill on the golf course, out hiking and spending time in nature, and enjoying life with his wife, Ellen, and his family.
