What is Sedation Dentistry?

Sedation Dentistry allows your doctor to perform a variety of dental procedures while you are relaxed and calm. You remain safe and comfortable, with constant monitoring.

What Types of Sedation are available to me?

Intravenous Moderate Sedation (IVS) - With IV sedation, a sedative is administered directly into a vein. Constant monitoring is involved and your dosage can be quickly modified if needed. Sedation is continuous throughout the entire procedure. You will be disoriented upon waking and should not operate a vehicle or walk alone. Please have a driver bring you to your appointment and take you home afterwards.

Oral Sedation – With oral sedation, medication is taken by mouth in the office one hour prior to the start of the procedure. The spectrum of sedation can range from relaxed to sleeping and can vary from patient to patient. You will be disoriented upon waking and should not operate a vehicle or walk alone. Please have a driver bring you to your appointment and take you home afterwards.

Nitrous Oxide – Nitrous Oxide (Laughing Gas) is the most commonly used method for relieving mild to moderate anxiety during procedures. Its extreme relaxation effects wear off quickly after the completion of the procedure. You may resume your daily activities immediately.
