Meet Dr. Robert Lee DDS, MS
Background and Credentials
Dr. Robert Lee DDS, MS is an acclaimed orthodontist, inventor, scientist, and teacher. He attended the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) where he earned his BS in bioengineering and his DDS. He then attended the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) where he earned his certificate in Orthodontics and MS in oral and craniofacial sciences.
Considered one of their most accomplished alumni in orthodontics by his faculty and peers, upon graduation Dr. Lee was asked to serve as a part-time professor at the UCSF Orthodontics Program where he serves as the course director and lectures on clear aligner therapy (i.e. Invisalign). As a resident and professor, he has performed novel research, including multiple projects with Dr. Tong, on computer-aided design/computer aided-manufacturing (CAD/CAM) applications in orthodontics, next-generation 3D-imaging techniques, oral cancer, and mini-implant assisted rapid palatal expansion. His extensive research has culminated in over 20 peer-reviewed publications and 6 cover-page articles in the American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics (AJODO), Journal of Clinical Orthodontics (JCO), and Journal of American Dental Association (JADA) which are widely considered the most respected orthodontic and dental journals in the world. Furthermore, he recently was awarded first place at the annual research competition at the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists.
Dr. Lee is a co-inventor of the INBRACE lingual appliance where he was primarily responsible for the 3D modeling, design, and fabrication workflow of the INBRACE bracket and Smartwires. He helped Dr. Tong found Swift Health Systems, Inc. and continues to work there with Dr. Tong as a Senior Clinical Advisor where he is responsible for product development, training, and clinical support.
